What's your favorite role that you've ever performed, actors? I'll start. A few years ago I did a play at the Hollywood Fringe festival where I got to perform as John Lennon in a biopic play called And Now It's All This, about the infamous "We're bigger than Jesus" moment which nearly derailed the Beatles entirely.
It was the best acting experience ever as I got to know John on a level I'd never done so before with a character. I still feel like a bit of him lives on within me today.
Much to digest here. Love to hear from actors and casting directors on some of the points/debates within.
I love this picture, this documentary and this man - Blake Leeper. Paralympic Gold Medalist Blade Runner who's been denied the opportunity to run in the Olympics even though his time qualifies him - who is also an actor and inspirational speaker. And I get the pleasure of teaching him! We'll both be at the screening of a documentary about him on Saturday Dances with Film Festival Hollywood. I'm sitting at home feeling nostalgic. That's what you do when Hollywood goes on summer hiatus. Back in 1993, I lived in Denver and worked for my dad at his travel agency, Mr. Cheap's Travel. One morning, he handed me an envelop. In it was an airplane ticket to San Francisco, hotel reservation, a stack of cash, and a piece of paper with instructions. I'm a huge Sigourney Weaver fan, and his gift to me was the opportunity to fly to out to be an extra in "Copycat". The piece of paper had my call time, location, and wardrobe information he acquired from Hayes Van Horn Casting. That was a magical day. I was still pretty new, and I had just become SAG eligible. But then it got more interesting. Casting arranged to have me sit directly in front of the podium where Dr. Helen Hudson (Weaver) delivered her lecture on serial killers. I was mesmerized. She's so shy. And I learned a thing or two about performing monologues. This was the best Christmas present I ever received.
How does this really affect my career? How do I promote this new project to casting directors and producers for maximum benefits? I know work beget's work, but there is this strike...Also, I've shot three pilots in the past year with three different productions ( two for colleges). Do those ever see the light of day? Thanks, I know it is a lot of questions.
Summer hiatus is in full swing, so it's a ghost town here in Hollywood. Some updates: SAG-AFTRA's contracts are set to ends June 30th, and a vote to strike was passed. However, it looks like contract negotiators may extend the negotiations for a few additional days beyond the June 30th expiration date; otherwise all existing union film projects to come to a screeching halt. Today, June 23, members of DGA vote on their new contract; fingers crossed. I woke this morning, had breakfast, and then realized I have absolutely nothing to do today or the next few weeks. Long waits can be tough. Hopefully things will be back to normal in time for the 2023-24 season beginning August.
TV show writers' rooms have often been populated by actors who either discovered their talent for character and scene building or who have a connection to the series or material. In fact, my wife, a long time screen and stage actor, recently wrote on a Netflix series. If you want to write for television this Stage 32 class hosted by TV writers and showrunner Todd Slavkin is a must!
I'll return views! There's been a change in casting in the movie I'm in. I'm a bit bummed about it, but trying to keep positive. I could really use some end-of-week-love with some views to my page! https://www.imdb.com/name/nm14941078 https://pro.imdb.com/name/nm14941078
Here's something I heard recently.
