I met with a “talent rep” today to potentially have some type of representation to bring exposure to my name as an actor. I met with her and right off the top she talked about how handsome and articulate I was and all this other stuff. Later she asked me to do a monologue which I was prepared for, although I messed up the first time she gave me a tip which helped me fly through it the second time and I knew I killed it. She talked about how she was overwhelmed by the monologue. She later said she thinks I have the drive the look and a really nice build to take it far but to start in commercials. Everything was fine an dandy until she dropped the price which was dang near $2000 dollars. $1995.50 to be exact. So she shows me the booklet with her in it dealing with the expo. So I found out the name and googled it and couldn’t find anything.
Hello everyone! I just recently started my journey as a voice actor and I'm very excited to get into this field. As far as equipment, I have a couple of different options I'm looking at for microphones. I'm split between the Focusrite Scarlett Solo recording pack and the Røde NT USB (definitely picking up a pop filter as well). Care to give any tips on which one would work better or perhaps share recommendations on better equipment for a beginner? Thanks!
I graduated from theatre school last year. Got an agent 3 months post graduation. The agency is a boutique agency with roughly 50-60 actors on the roster. Since I didn’t have many on camera training to put in my resume I took workshops with major casting directors and people known for their coaching for on camera / television film stuff and feel so much more grounded in my work now. That said, in one of my final 6th week of the acting on camera workshop a high profile acting coach says to me if I have thought of trying to get signed with a better and bigger reputable agencies known in my city and him being fully aware that I was signed with my current agent that I love and adore. It’s been 5 months since that workshop and I sometimes still think if I should take his word and give it a try but don’t wanna come off as shady to my current agent since I’m still new to this industry and field. Any thoughts ?! Tips ?
I’ve been a supportive husband to my wife and her acting career, small theater etc. for 10 years now. When we met I told her I’d have a hard time with her kissing an actor on stage. She said she usually doesn’t have roles like that because most of her roles are comedy. She said she’d talk to me about it if she ever had a role offered to her that would require kissing. She also assured me that on stage is just that and there’s no feelings. Fast forward 10 years. This Friday is opening night of a play she’s in. While I was in the shower talking to her about the day I mentioned a friend or possible relative I’d be bringing to watch her play. She said okay, just so you know there’s a kissing part in it. I was really heartbroken and felt sick to my stomach. She is months into rehearsal and opening night is Friday. This was the first time she mentioned the requirement of the role and I feel hurt for several reasons. The main reason is we were going to talk about this type of thing before she would accept a role like that. I have emotions to work through but could you guys help me simplify what this all means? How you have worked through this as a dude whose wife is in theater? I’m looking for support and good advice to navigate this. Thanks

Hey all you very talented actors! I’m looking for a classroom to film at in Los Angeles area, and I would really appreciate if either you know a school that would let me shoot there for about 2-3 hours or if you know any good websites to RENT one. I would appreciate ALL help I can get, thank you so much everybody!!! Sending so much positivity. Also you can self submit to my project on backstage, it’s called The Power of Kindness. Some roles have been filled but we’ll consider you for future films.
I’ve submitted to a bunch of stuff, but I’d like to see what I have and haven’t submitted to so I don’t do something stupid like double submit. I don’t want to give a CD any more work to do or give myself a bad rep by doing it. Is there a part of the site like Actors Access that shows my submission history?
I'm a writer working on a series of novels whose main charcter was conceived as a talent agent/con artist The first two books were him in high school/college so the talent agent thing has just been in the background. His father is an agent at a large fictional agency, top one in the country, Now in book 3 he's getting an internship at the agency so I need to learn more about how an actual talent agency works Can anyone help me out?
I've taken a variety of different acting classes, but have never studied a well known technique (Meisner, Adler, etc.) I've heard a lot of negative things from actors who have studied those techniques. They say the techniques aren't applicable to 99% of what an actor does. Are there any actors who have either worked on major motion pictures or television that can give their stance on these acting techniques?
Hey Reddit community, I'm an actor working outside of LA in Austin, TX. I chose to join the union because I believe in the cause! Just excited to let you know after countless auditions, callbacks I finally booked two jobs on the same day! I'm thrilled and am in the fight with you. Keep hustling fellow actors, it pays off!

Hello fellow actors and ancestresses. I'm super torn on my acting future. I am retired veteran and I love working background for extra income. I used to live in California, where I got my SAG card. That was many moons ago. 2006. I have worked some stuff in Louisiana. But now I want to get serious with it. I currently live in Austin and have to move in a couple of days. MY pension covers my basic needs. LA, muoy expensive, I know nothing about Atlanta. Is it hot right now still, and where in Atlanta should i look at moving too. Thank you SSSSSoooooo much, I am so conflicted.
Where are places to find student films that I can audition for? I tried some sites like actors access and back stage, but I couldn’t really find any near me. Would I be able to contact universities directly, or does it have to be through sites where auditions are posted?
I'm struggling to figure out ways to actually be seen by agents and managers other than workshops and classes which are burning a hole in my wallet. Has anyone self submitted to an agency and it ended up working out?
I just finished a run of Hamlet as Gertrude and am feeling the sadness of ending a show hardcore. This show was really special. It was one of those shows where I really connected with my cast mates and we created something really great. What sticks out for me is the closet scene with Hamlet and my brief interaction with Laertes when I explain Ophelia's death. Both of those actors were just so giving in their performances. There was no bravado or "diva" like qualities. They opened themselves up and made themselves completely vulnerable and in turn, so did I. Getting to where I needed to be emotionally was completely effortless. And in the oddly masochistic way that we actors love, I would make my exit, weeping, but floating on air knowing what we had just done was amazing. You know what I mean? I'm now balls deep in rehearsals for my next show, "Noises Off" which is a complete 180 from the emotional intensity of Hamlet. It's really fun but the farcical elements are more of a physical challenge rather than emotional. I'm enjoying it a lot and starting to bond with the cast but man... I mourn a little bit after each show I do, but this is definitely a tougher one for me.
I’ve turned down several auditions because the script was absolutely terrible, or there trying to reimagine a classic but failed. But are struggling actors... is it okay to turn down bad work?
