Looking to be a film maker and actor.
I’ve been told a lot of the time that a helpful way to ensure more bookings is to find a color that makes me more cast-able. From the way I understand it, it’s meant to be a color that gets me casted more often when I wear it to my auditions. I’ve noticed it’s apparently a common theme, since plenty of more accomplished actors than myself show a trend of their “audition ootd”s being all the same color. Does anyone have tips on ways to find the right color, or ideas of common colors that work for most people? Thanks.
I'm an untrained and underexperienced actor by passion, but I have performed several times when given the opportunity at school. Not to toot my own horn, but when it comes to anything about performing arts, I would be one of the people who would come up first in people's minds. However, whenever I'm given a piece to read or dialogue to sample, I think I subject myself to the pressure of having to nail the line the way a "good actor" would. And that's my question - do good actors always get their lines right the first time?
Hello Actors! Here is the headshot album https://imgur.com/gallery/WCHExnv Wanted to know y’all input on my headshots. Are they too close, too bright, not bright enough, weird angle?! Please let me know what I can work on. As well as how much you would pay for a 1 hour session for these types of shots. I currently have a rate but feel like it’s too low! Thank you for your help!!
Hi r/VoiceActing. I'm a podcast producer looking to hire voice actors to do character voices for a Patreon-exclusive audiobook reading. I've already started a project on Casting Call Club, but I haven't listed roles because I don't know enough about pay rates, or how to format scripts, etc. I would greatly appreciate any feedback at this stage. By the way, here is an example of the script I've made for the title character (please give it a look and let me know how I did): [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yvRpG31OIJIjqOjF4-N009jaizyQVVyjWw\_I\_cmdbUk/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yvRpG31OIJIjqOjF4-N009jaizyQVVyjWw_I_cmdbUk/edit?usp=sharing)
I am 22 years old and have been acting since I was 8, I did it in high school and have had a bit of training out of school in short course. I now want to take my training more seriously to become an actress but I am conflicted on how to do this. I have been accepted in the William Esper studio in NYC, I would love to attend this conservatory but I’m worried because I don’t have a bachelors degree, and would I would not be able to get a job in maybe teaching or stage or theatre management (not my passions but just in case) after getting a certificate from the studio. My other option is to start community college and then transfer to a proper university (I’m not from the states so it would be cheaper this way for me). However this would be 4 years so id finish when Im 27 and I know the training wouldn’t be as individualized and acting based. I’d be super grateful for any advice offered.
I don't get something. Hunter Schafer (the transgender girl that's in HBO's Euphoria) was asked how she got the role/into acting in an interview and she said something like "Oh, my modeling agency told me about the role and i went for it!"... I don't get it? I mean, sure, she's signed with Elite (they're like the CAA for models lol), however they're a modeling agency, not an acting one. I don't understand why she'd want to get into acting in the first place and why her modeling agency would inform her about an acting role. Here's her unconfirmed IMDB biography: Born in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1999, Hunter Schafer graduated from the University of NC School of the Arts and became known in the state for her role, along with her father Mac, in challenging a state House bill requiring people to use public bathrooms that matched the gender on their birth certificates, in 2016. She started her career as a fashion model in New York City for companies such as Marc Jacobs and Dior.In 2017, she was cited by Teen Vogue as one of 21 girls younger than 21 who were changing the world. Her TV series role on the show Euphoria came after a casting call on the Instagram social media platform. And if you check her IMDB she's signed with THREE WME agents...If she were to magically sign with a WME agent for some reason and then get the Euphoria audition thanks to said agent... ok. However she herself said her modeling agency helped her for that role. And in IMDB on the other hand it's said she simply attended a "casting call on IG"?!? I'm quite confused. I've heard of modeling agents helping aspiring actors in smaller markets like in Megan Fox's situation (she was signed with an amateur modeling agency in Miami but her modeling agent asked her whether she wanted to actually model or not but and said she actually wanted to act so said modeling agency introduced her to an established agent in the Florida area) but what does Elite Model Management have to do with acting?!?!? It's like asking your CAA/WME agent to get you into modeling. None of this makes any sense.
Every day, I worry about not being able to become an actor. I've never had major speaking parts outside of some small musicals and can't seem to get anyone interested in my reel or headshots. I constantly worry that I'm not talented enough or handsome enough to actually break through into this industry. I've attached two shots of me, one formal one informal, to give you a sense of what I look like. I'd love any thoughts on roles I'd be good for, how to deal with this sort of anxiety, and just general tips. Thank you, /r/acting! https://imgur.com/a/mnTNnZx
[Jenna Fischer - The Actor's Life: A Survival Guide](https://www.amazon.com/Actors-Life-Survival-Guide/dp/1944648224) Many of us have posted before on how good the book is (in fact, it's in our [Recommended Reading List)](https://www.reddit.com/r/acting/comments/2jdu6k/revised_reading_list_1014/), but I thought I'd post again because I cannot stress enough how good it is. The book walks you through, step by step, many of the points that have been asked here time and time again, including: * How to start a career as an actor * How to get training * What to expect in an audition * How to get an agent * What to expect when cast * How to behave on set * When to fire your agent * What to do when you get fired And many more. it's such a mind fuck, honest to god. i go months and months without an audition, but then on monday I have one for a series regular with a big time actor as the main role. but then after that i'm sure ill go another month or two without one. it just doesn't make any sense to me. i know i need to update my headshots and get some killer shots that reflect my further knowledge about myself and what indsutry is looking for, i know i need more professional reel footage since most of mine is indie / low budget stuff, and i know I can always get better, and all the things i have to do.... that all cost money of course. but like... if i was getting auditions like the one i have on monday, of which i've had similiar caliber ones before... but instead of being so damn in frequent over the course of a few years now, but more on a regular basis, i feel like i would be good enough to finally book one of these. but the ridiculous sporadic nature of them... is just insane to me. i wish i could make my agents just focus on getting me some co-stars so maybe that would increase the frequency of auditions I receive? then i could have more money to be taking more classes to be acting on a more regular basis instead of constantly waiting tables and then randomly having to practice hardcore for 4 days when i get one of these things. i know each audition is a gift. and i am incredibly grateful for it, and it's a great fucking awesome fun role, it's just awesome. i just can't get over how much of a mind fuck it is..... and how the biggest challenge for me thus far has been somehow establishing that balance of having enough money to be acting on a more regular basis... while maintaining the flexibility TO be acting on a more regular basis.. while getting audtioins at the same time. it's always SO lopsided and out of balance and out of whack for me. always. i just dont get it. am I alone here? is this how it was for anybody else out there that may be a few steps ahead or can look back and be like.. oh shit thats exactly how it was for me and I did XYZ to get to get to the next level (save money from waiting tables without losing my goddamn mind i guess, blah)
hey guys so i've been kind of unlucky with actors access. i would submit for a role that I really want to audition for but don't get sides from the casting director. is anyone else in the same position as well? how long does it usually take for a casting director to cmail you sides from actors access?
Hello everyone, I am a 16 year old boy who is a beginner voice actor, if you can call me a beginner, Ive practiced voice acting for 2 years now but have never really gotten around to recording it , just doing it for fun and stuff like that until I realized that I LOVE how it sounds and its fun, I personally think Im pretty good, apart from being a voice actor (or not really yet) Ive had my fair share of theatrical actor experiences (apologies for spelling mistakes since English is not my mother tongue).I would love to help with any projects anyone has and would do them for free until I get some more experience, if anyone would like to hear my voice acting please email me at haotik.master@gmail.com or comment on here, thank you in advance everyone ^^
So, I’m complaining about having too much to do. Roll your eyes, then please give me some advice. I’m working on three projects at the moment - I’m not a professional actor, but it’s my passion. I’ve been cast in two community theatre plays and a short film. I’m finding it hard to manage character study and learning lines for all three parts. Anyone worked on multiple projects? How do you maintain your energy and focus?

I’m wondering how to become an actor on Lambda grades, I got to grade 7 when I was younger
Hey everyone, throwaway account. I am from the UK and I’m planning to move to London this autumn to pursue my acting career. I’m 21 and have done amateur theatre & student films for a while now, and I just graduated university reading English & Drama. Other actors my age seem to have made it without going to drama school already; So how realistic is this. Moving to London and sharing a house with a lot of other people so it’s cheap, doing part time classes at the Actor’s Centre or something of that sort (I’m very open to suggestions) and working full time to save up money. That’s my plan. I have zero connections to the industry and can’t bear to stay in my small town anymore. I want to be a proper working actor. If anyone has any advice (even if it’s to tell me it’s dumb moving to London without going to drama school) I’d be very grateful. Any advice, please, as I have no clue if this is a good idea. Emma Corrin, Jack Bannon, Anya Taylor Joy, Fionn Whitehead, Florence Pugh, Jessica Brown Findlay, they all made it without drama school. But getting a great agent seems to be what formed their careers. Thank you in advance.
