Is there any well known actors, who started from 28 to 30 years old, and went on to have successful film or television careers?

High school junior who's looking into acting, what should I do once I graduate? by jjozens  •  last post May 3rd

Hey everyone, so I'll just cut to the chase here. I'm looking into acting after high school and I don't really know exactly where to start. I'm currently taking drama and I'm learning methods on how to deliver on camera, loosing myself up, etc., but I wanna know what I should do once I graduate. I've looked into acting schools but I've seen from multiple sources that casting directors won't even acknowledge you unless you went to a top-of-the-line school, and I haven't even been able to find any schools that would be considered one of those. Basically, I just wanna know from any experienced actors what options are ideal for me to look into. Should I take acting classes on the side while going to college? Or should I focus all my time into acting if I wanna take it seriously? If anyone can help me out, that would be absolutely wonderful. Thanks! P.S. I hope everyone here is able to accomplish their dreams and find a gig soon! :)

Strange? by Fit-Factor988  •  last post May 3rd

I think it’s so crazy how when I was self submitting on actors access I wouldn’t really get callbacks or book and now that I have an agent and go out for bigger things I do get callbacks and book work, anyone else have that?

I am a director and want to learn how to better direct actors by MasterGuig  •  last post May 3rd

Good day actors, I am a filmmaker from Montreal, and even though I have a few short films under my belt, I feel that working with actors is by far my greatest weakness. I would like to know from your point of view what you think are the best ways for a director to work with actors. What are the dos and donts that you've seen directors do. What is helpful to you and what do you feel is a waste of time? Basically, what do you wish directors did more, and what do you wish they did less? And not just on set, but everything from the casting call to the premiere. Thank you for your help!

Who are the very best acting managers in NY? by hossadog  •  last post May 3rd

Hi guys! I’m an established actor (re-occurring on a huge streaming series), and still having trouble securing good representation if you can believe that baloney. People keep telling me that its because I’m not a 19 year old hot chick. I would have thought more doors would open after my third year on this series, but very few reps in LA seem motivated to talk with me and the ones that have… well they couldn’t get me an audition at an open casting call if they tried. So I’ve decided to pivot to NY… I love NY and figure my schtick may fly a little higher. I think I have a look that’s less CW and more a dude trying to hustle you in a back alley card game anyway. So, I’m looking for a new manager and wanted to know if anyone had a list of NY managers that are truly great, have a good reputation and are worth their salt? I ask because the last NY manager I had ran off with my cash, in retrospect that was my bad… the track marks on his arm should have been a red flag. Thank you so much! Appreciate whatever insights you all share!

How's the British Acting Scene? by Cumquatinator  •  last post May 3rd

So I'm thinking about doing a bit of a career switch and moving from film production into acting. A lot of my work that I do is in Bristol, UK and was wondering how the acting gigs are over there? I know some people say that London is the place to be for it but I don't think I could live in London - I've grown too attached to Bristol. Any pointers for a newbie actor making a transition from one career to another?

Acting as non-native English speaker by cats_schroedinger  •  last post May 3rd

I was wondering if it would be realistic to become an actor for English productions without being a native speaker. Does anyone have experience with this or has examples of actors?

PAID VA work for male actors for adult brand, up to $400/per hour of audio recorded for the right talent! by hereyesonly  •  last post May 3rd

Best Kept Secret is an erotica brand that focuses on audios for women (mostly so far but planning to expand this in the future) to enjoy, read by men. We do scripts ranging from Victorian romances to more BDSM style stuff. We are looking for someone great at acting, pacing, getting in the mood, dirty talk and creating sexual tension and of course with a sexy voice + a decent mic. You MUST be comfortable with NSFW material and over 18 of course! At the present we can pay up to $400 per hour of raw audio for the right talent. Typically we start at $125/hr to establish a working relationship and then increase it from there. But like I say it is really dependent on how our audience reacts to the content that determines this initial rate. Past erotica/NSFW voice acting experience is great but not a necessity at all. We add the SFX and editing, it's just the raw audio you would be required to perform (no post or extra production essentially) To audition, please submit a 2-3 minute sample (including both SFW and NSFW segments) through this form [**HERE**](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1yf1OWelXKCmswf_Y5G_ERUjrpxtUI5wn9sR8mJhZLJQ/edit). You need to provide a MP3 or WAV sample of the attached script in that form. Any other questions about the process please DM or email me at [rob@yourbestkeptsecret.co.uk](mailto:rob@yourbestkeptsecret.co.uk)

Play Duologues for Two Actors(Male/female) 20 years old by SherbetSpirited1085  •  last post May 3rd

Hello fellow actors, I think it'd be great if we could pool together plays we have found so that we can start a comment chain with everyone's suggestions for good scenes from plays with specified requirements (like the one in the title). I'll start \-Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons two hander around a young professional aged couple (24-32) living in a world with government enforced speech restriction, and how they navigate communication and intimacy around that, along with balancing the natural ebb and flow of human relationships.

Dressing to look younger for audition? by HappyAkratic  •  last post May 3rd

I'm a male actor in my mid-late twenties, and tomorrow I have an audition for a teenager (around 15y/o). I can pass as a teenager sometimes, depending on what I'm wearing. E.g. if I'm wearing a t-shirt and shorts people often read me as 15-17 or so, but if I'm dressed more formally, e.g. button-down shirt and nicer trousers, people usually guess 18-23. Question: for the audition, should I dress more casually with a young-looking t-shirt and shorts or jeans, or should I go more formal since it's an audition (for a fairly well-known professional theatre company)? Is it worse to come across as too old or too casual/unprofessional?

Pssst. Hey. You wanna make some voice actor friends? by CatieTheVoiceActor  •  last post May 2nd

Me too! And I suck at networking on Twitter, so uh... hi I guess. If you're a voice actor and interested in making some new friends, then please feel free to comment here or chat with me. Brief introduction, hi, I'm Catie! I've been voicing acting for almost two years and doing freelance work as a narrator for a few different Youtube channels. I still have a long ways to go, but I've made some decent progress in that time I feel and I've managed to make some really good friends too. I'm not exactly an expert on all things voice acting, but if you've got any questions about stuff I'll do my best to help you find the right answer! What about you guys?

Any other Canadian voice actors just get f*(!#d by the new commercial agreement? by Azdak_TO  •  last post May 2nd

Apparently ACTRA negotiated me out of a job. The ICA refused to sign onto the new NCA and now a lot of "voice of" jobs are being recast with non-union talent.

I can’t stand actors that don’t make an effort to connect before or even during shooting. by caringfarmerr  •  last post May 2nd

I’m sorry if it’s part of your “process” but I promise it will be a lot easier to act together if we are comfortable with each other and can trust each other. I’m not saying be extroverted or super chatty but let me know you’re happy to be here and ready to do some work. No one thinks your mysterious, people just think you’re a dick. Rant over.

How Tf do y’all memorize lines? by mpchop  •  last post May 2nd

Title. I’m a junior in HS and I’m preparing for a monologue that I have to memorize and act in the upcoming weeks. Imo I feel like the hardest thing as an actor is memorizing your lines, because imagine going up on stage and then blanking the first thing you get there. And I want to be able to act in the plays/musicals we’ll be having next year too. So I ask, how do you guys do it? How do you not forget? How have you not blanked on stage? And if you have, how quick have you recovered from it? Is there a trick? What am I missing?
