Hello fellow actors! I was planning on taking classes with one of these teachers and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or experiences with either of them that they’d be willing to share!
I heard a story recently of a hockey coach who was asked if he would rather be a good player or a lucky one. As an actor, if you had to, which one would you choose? The words ''good'' and ''lucky'' are up to your interpretation.

I’m looking for any actors/actresses looking for exposure to test my site, Talentspots.com It’s essentially a talent and crew network I just made that’s designed to showcase models, actors, film crew, photographers and creatives and connect them to jobs and castings. Kind of like Modelmayhem, but less shady and more connected to the film and TV industry as well (I’m a producer myself) Would love any feedback and if you sign up, I’ll upgrade your membership for free.
Hey guys, I'm a 21\-year\-old British actor currently based in the North, but now that I've secured a London agent and most of my auditions/work is in London, I'm hoping to move down by the end of August. So, is there anybody on here that would maybe like to meet for a coffee and talk about moving in somewhere together? I'm just thinking that living with people in the industry would be a lot easier and more helpful in the long\-run.
So I started training in the 3rd grade, I am now 21. I am a middle eastern american actor in the south, I speak fluent english farsi and french. I have plenty of credits on my resume but no SAG credits and a lack of work that I can use for a reel. The issue is - how can I build a reel if no one is letting me audition for roles? I have an agent (after years I was finally able to find one - I largely credit the spur of diversity in the industry). But for example, here is a huge issue I have: The same casting director who gave me an audition for a terrorist role on a SAG ultra low budget project (I posted anonymously then deleted a post about this as it got plenty of up votes and many other middle eastern actors and non middle eastern actors agreed to the level of blatant racism and islamaphobia in the project, many had also rejected it) will not allow me to audition for another SAG ultra low budget project that is ‘normal’. I literally don’t know what to do - this is how you are supposed to climb as an actor - you’re supposed to make use of these opportunities but I can’t even get them in the first place. I recently interviewed with an LA agent and she loved me and now I’m on hold with her until I am SagE but it’s just frustrating because I’m doing everything I need to be and I thought that after all those years of not even getting interviewed by an agency while people of other races would go in without even a fraction of the credits that maybe there would be a shift but it’s frustrating. I am not even ‘stereotypically’ middle eastern looking and have light features that make me look more European. Does anyone have any recommendations, tips?
Ah, an age old debate between the two coasts. First and foremost, I'd like to say that I'm extremely grateful to have been accepted to both schools as a transfer student for this upcoming Fall 2018 semester. A little bit of info. about myself; Although I might describe myself as a theatre enthusiast(?) My primarily goal is to be a professional actor, ever since I was a young kid. And although I adore stage acting, my dream is and always has been to work in film/tv. I want and plan to move to LA and work in Hollywood right after college regardless of which school I end up at. But I do want good training at a reputable school to start off with. When comparing the two, a few key things stand out to me. Tisch would allow me to experience and be educated in a conservatory style curriculum while living and taking advantage of the opportunities in NYC. Whereas, I wouldn't receive that kind of training at USC...I think? (since it's the BA). However, USC would allow me to get my feet wet and adjusted to life in LA/Hollywood early while i'm still in school and network out on the west coast before I permanently move out there after graduation. This is kind of a loaded question and undoubtedly very subjective, but which school would be most beneficial for my and/or anyone's acting career? (in terms of networking, training, learning about and preparing oneself for the business, etc.). Basically, what i'm asking is; Is there a "Right answer/choice" here? Any and all advice regarding this matter is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance ;)
Hi guys! I'm reasonably new to this reddit. I just wondered if you guys had any advice you could give me on how to pursue a career in the acting/film industry. I'm 16 years old and I finish high school in 2 weeks! I'm extremely passionate about acting and driven to become successful, however, I don't know where to start! I've been in a government TV advert before and have auditioned for a couple of major films who held open auditions. If someone can give me some tips on where to go from here, how to improve in my ability and how to get noticed then it will be greatly appreciated. I'm aware the journey will be tough, and the industry is extremely competitive, however i'm ready to work super hard and maximise my potential.
My apologies if these questions are A\) Dumb, or B\) Have been asked before. Young actor, a good amount of experience on my resume, sending out my first wave of applications to smaller local agencies and London mega\-agencies alike. Some last minute questions before I send away my applications: Do I send my cover letter as an attached doc or write my cover letter in the email? For those of you have secured a meeting after sending an application \(congrats\), when after you received a reply was the meeting arranged for? \(i.e, days, weeks, or months in the future?\) Tips on adding personality to the email without sounding annoying or arrogant? Any other tips on applications in general would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys
Fellow aspiring actors of Reddit, Having lost touch of my goal to become a successful actor for a while (I had a lot going on and wasn't in a good place, so my dream took a backseat for a while), I'm finally feeling like I'm getting my passion and drive back! I'm about to enroll in a really prestigious acting course (not saying that I'm a "really prestigious" actor, but rather that the institution itself is really good). The course teaches the method of practical Aesthetics that's used by actors like William H. Macy and Elizabeth Olsen. I've read a bit about it online (if anyone has any thoughts/experiences/tips relating to it please post in the comments - would be a huge help), but the main thing I gathered is that it's kind of the direct opposite of method acting. That being said, I was also looking into the 4-week Summer course at the Lee Strasberg institute in New York and it looks really amazing and am quite interested in doing that if I can. However, Strasberg is obviously method. So, my question is, for anyone who has any experience in either or (ideally) both of those methods, could you please tell me would it still be worthwhile doing the Strasberg course in addition to the practical Aesthetics one? Would studying Strasberg compliment the practical Aesthetics method (i.e., is it possible to potentially take aspects from both and use them together), or would I just be better focussing on one or the other? P.S. if it's any help, there's another institute near me that teaches the method technique, which I think still has a good reputation, but not quite as much as the other. Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
I just tried to view Lynne Ashe's video posted on Karmalicity for a generous 18 pts. but as soon as I hit play, a message comes up saying that it is unavailable in my country. Never experienced that on this platform before. Has anyone encountered the same or similar?
So I need some advice hive mind. I’m a 22 year old character actor currently living in Denver. I have a fair amount of theatre credits and I’m working on building up my film reel. Now it’d still be a couple years off but I’m an anal retentive planner but I wanna move away from Denver to pursue acting full time. I have friends who live in New York, Chicago, and LA, and they all have their own individual experiences regarding working in each of those cities. So I thought I’d ask if y’all have any experiences you’d like to share or insight as to what I should do. I would like to work in film and TV but continue working in theatre as well. TL;DR, Where’s the best place to move in order to pursue film and theatre acting full time?
I know that this is a weird question but I was just wondering about it. When actors are just starting out, which kinds of movie roles are the most likely to really launch their careers? I've been thinking about becoming an actor and I wanted to know what would be the best path to breaking into hollywood. Obviously oscar bait drama stuff would be a huge boost for your career, but I imagine it would be very tough to land a role in one of those movies if you were just starting out. Comedies might help you get some visibility but you probably wouldn't gain much prestige from that. I know its too early to be worrying about stuff like this when I haven't even taken any acting classes yet, but I'm the type of person who seeks out as much information ass possible as soon as I become interested in something. So in your opinions, what's the best path for an actor to take in order to make their career take off?
It's a hypothetical question. Please tell me why/why not. By helping them out I mean giving them your agent's contact info, telling them about roles, etc... And by letting them struggle I mean let them work hard ; "you had to work hard and fail a lot, why should they have it easy?" :)

Hey fellow Aussie actors! I would love to know which casting websites you guys use and/or recommend- there are a lot out there and I would love to know your opinions! Also what does everyone think of IMDB Pro? Thanks!
Hey everybody, I just got my headshots back and the one I like best has my hand in it. The hand is not covering something in my face, just resting on my shoulder/collarbone. Is it unproffesional and/or distracting to use a headshot with my hand and part of my forearm...
[Kayla C](https://www.yooying.com/models.eat.2) I loved her on Ghost Brothers. @joeyking I know she isn’t a household name yet but she will be!
