Hey fellas, I did one commerical ad for LG and they gave me the script day before shoot and the length for this ad was about 8 mins. I come from Theatre background where I played characters all the time and did plays for around 6 years, so I gave audition for this commerical and got booked for it. I did my preparation and learned my lines understood the character, when I went on shoot I thought this will be a good experience for me but it was horrible because they told me to do over acting and loud reactions which I found very odd in camera work and my co actor was the producer of the commerical she didn't know how to act, it was very difficult for me to find my artistic satisfaction which I get when I act in interesting stories. I never did short film or any other camera work, could you please guide me, is there any difference in commerical and artistic work? Is there any rehearsals or is it about do your homework and perform your part directly because in this commerical I didn't get any rehearsals or discussions about the story. Please help me out.
I have been in 14 productions and have been told I’m a great actor. I want to start a professional career of acting, but I don’t know how to get recognized by agents. I don’t know which agencies are fake, which ones are scams, and which ones are real. Are there any agencies that are real and can help me get noticed by casting directors? Thanks.
Hi there, I'm a first time poster, and I thought this might be the best place to do so to get some advice. I'm currently reading 'Voice Over Voice-Actor' By Tara Platt and Yuri Lowenthal. One of the exercises talks about establishing an understanding of your own natural voice to know your limits before you start delving into any work. The homework they've provided is to get 5 strangers and 5 friends to describe someone's natural voice by listing 5 qualities. Descriptions can be anything like 'low, high pitched, reedy, grating, young sounding' etc. Would anyone be able to help out by listing 5 qualities that they first thing of when hearing my voice? I've provided an excerpt of a book reading below. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrnndgQUhZ0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrnndgQUhZ0) Let me know if this type of post isn't allowed or is against the rules. Any help would be really appreciated!

I'm an aspiring voice actress with a few projects under my belt. I feel I'm learning from experience, but I would love to find a form of media that allows me to hone and better my actual skills in voice acting. I do understand that taking actual classes would benefit me, though I do not have that luxury with a lot of VO and acting classes in my area being cancelled due to the move to remote learning. Thanks is advance!
I’m a Scottish boy without the heavy stereotypical accent, and I’m hoping to become a voice actor for the English dubs of animes. I can already do a wide range of voices, from raspy, evil and more intense voices, to calm and soft voices. I haven’t taken any sort of acting courses yet, but that’ll all happen later on, after I get an answer to this question. My concern is that every English voice actor I know of for animes are all American. Would there be any hope in someone like me becoming a voice actor for English dubs?
Hello everyone, amateur voice actor here looking for any tips when it comes to mimicking a voice. I am a part of a GOT fan animation and I knew going into it that I would have to put some effort into trying to sound like Iwan Rheon. No problem, I know that I will not sound exactly like him but I think I can do a decent impression without taking away from my performance, but I have now found out that he intends to use lines from the show when he can. Personally I think that is not the best choice for many reasons but that isn't my job, my job is to give him the voice he wants. Thing is when it comes to acting I am a garbage impersonator, I always took my performances as extensions of myself trying to kind of twist myself and put ideas in my head on what I would have to go through to be like that. You could say I am somewhere in between a method actor and a sane actor. So any tips at all would be greatly appreciated, also I love how there is a sigh next to the impressions flair
I am trying to see what rates are at voices.com to see if we could get our first voice actor for a commercial but we are fairly new to advertising and I have no clue what the the term non broadcast advertising means or if it applies to us. We are trying to make a local advertisement that will be promoted on IG, FB, and maybe YT. Thanks!
I hear this advice a lot as an actor. "Don't wait for opportunities, make your own films." That's all well and good, but making movies is a full time job. That's not to say I haven't made short films starring myself. But if you want festival-run quality short films, that's going take dedication, money, and a lot of time. Time away from training and auditioning. So ultimately, my question is this. How does making my own films (assuming they're going to be microscopic budget non-union shorts) help your acting career? Is it just for the purpose of padding your resume and reel? Or do casting directors really care that you're a filmmaker as well?
I've been doing voice work at a hobby-to-paid level for about a year now. I've done a few courses. I've done a few paid gigs, a ton of amateur projects and even landed a role in an upcoming video game through reddit. While I've dabbled in narration and commercials I want to focus on specifically doing character work (animations, video games etc). I feel I'm ready to start dipping my toe into P2P sites but probably am still a year or two out from getting a professional demo / agent. What sites have you found to be good for finding / applying for paid projects in this vein? They don't have be high-visibility or even high-pay but I want a site where most projects are more than $10 postings and minecraft fan videos (Not that those aren't a blast too!) Here's the current rendition of my [homemade demo reel](https://1drv.ms/u/s!Al1q0mGPvh9RlqckfdxJCiaMJENbVw) for the interested.
Assume you could move anywhere on the continent and work legally there. I would start with LA, Atlanta, Vancouver, but not sure at all after those. Interested to hear your thoughts, or if you think the top three should be different? 1. LA 2. Atlanta 3. Vancouver 4. ? 5. ? 6. ? 7. ? 8. ? 9. ? 10. ?
Also im new to the whole acting and auditioning process so im sorry if what im saying doesn't make sense.

[https://youtu.be/n\_8HFFjB30U](https://youtu.be/n_8HFFjB30U) This week on The Voice Cast, we are comparing the English voice actors of your favorite Pokémon characters between the 4Kids and The Pokemon Company International dubs (TPCI)! As well as the other appearances of these characters. I hope you enjoy! https://preview.redd.it/6xj5z2twieh51.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=5052ca0143a205cedc552844ea9e874fd6aae4c8
I’ve recently graduated uni, and I’ve been using online databases, such as Mandy.com backstage casting and StarNow, to get odd jobs here and there, but I’m struggling to find work in a more “professional” category. I’m not expecting to get and agent and walk into overwhelming amounts of work, but would any of you folks be able to recommend any agencies that I should be applying to, that might give me a better shot at more frequent and recognised work? (I have a voice reel and a Spotlight account)
Really looking for some advice on where to look for a VO agency that works with remote actors. I was working with an agency in Portland before I moved back to Memphis and now I am at a loss to find an agency. There is a ton of online P2P stuff but I haven’t really had any success there. Any advice?
Hi all! I was recently asked to teach a master class for musical theatre, mainly just explaining rep, how to build a book, etc. and was asked what my rate would be for an hour to hour and a half master class. I've never done a master class before and currently charge $30/hr for one on one coaching (which in it of itself might be a little under fair market rate). Can anyone give me an insight on what a fair rate would be? I'm a working actor, have a degree and regional credits. Thanks!
Hi, I'm a very annoyed indie director on a quest to find answers. I'm currently casting for a short film, and I've already provided a script with clear instructions the talents are supposed to act that part out. However, a few talents have sent me "emotion casting videos" (e.g https://youtu.be/y2YUMPJATmg) showing their emotions from laughing, to being sad, then angry etc. This happened while casting for my last project too. They did not send a video of them acting out the script. My question is... Why? Why is this emotion video even a thing? As a director, I can't fathom its use. The ones done in one take make me wonder whether I should refer them for a psych eval. Even well produced ones don't tell me whether or not the ones can play the character. The other one is of them posing like models, showing their sides. Again, why?? Is this something actors are taught in acting school? Do some agents tell you to do this? Has this ever worked? Is this more for commercials or something?
Hi All, I am asking for any members who are on Mandy if you would please give me a vote on my vo entry. There is less than a week to go and I would be so grateful for your support. Thank you in advance. Regards, Carl Wharton https://www.mandy.com/competition/voiceover-competition-2020/share/5731691
