Hello! I am 14 years old (almost 15) from Bulgaria. I really want to be an actor but from what I have read, the chances of succeeding are really slim. I am not seeking fortune, but I would really love to be in good movies. I just want to act and meet people when shooting a movie etc. However will I have to work other jobs so I can have enough money? I was so hyped to become an actor but there are an overwhelming amount of articles I'vee read where people say that it is not worth it, that the chances of succeeding are slim and that you shouldn't try which made me sad since acting is what I want to do.
I just stumbled into the movie industry by accident last year, enjoying background acting for the 18 months around Toronto and Hamilton. I have no previous experience in this industry and have been told that it’s not worth it to go back to University for classes when you’re in your mid 40s. Yet! I’d like to graduate from BG acting into small speaking roles or commercials. I am bilingual (DE / EN), which may be considered an asset. I joined ACTRA last year, as the pay for non-union jobs often appears to be lower than minimum wage. I am subscribed to several job sites, but most of the job posts are for non-union jobs. I’ve contacted several agencies across TO and it appears that they are busy enough, as only one agency responded about 4 weeks later. I currently have my eye on acting classes from Second City in Toronto; they’ve been recommended to me by others as a great entry point. My local community only offers acting classes for kids & teens, nothing for adults. Any suggestions from fellow actors that are dipping their toe into the industry would be appreciated! How does one find an agent that is willing to take a chance on a newcomer for small roles? Agents suggestions would be cool. What training do you consider a must (online or offline) or what did you find really helpful as a newbie actor? Thanks in advance!
I’m an actor from the prairies who will be moving in a year to pursue acting full time. I have been advised by many to move to Vancouver over Toronto as there is more film jobs there; which I do. Heard Toronto is more for theatre actors?
Does anyone know any good summer programs for actors? Thanks !
Hi! We're an indie game developers and we're making a video game called [Paws and Soul](https://store.steampowered.com/app/911510/Paws_and_Soul/). We have all the characters but one — we need a female actor for a character who is a French female and a close friend of one of the main characters. Here are the audition texts; look for Ellie in the document - that would be the character: [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hPc-Rt-QBHV\_N\_K5z5-J1U3d8mhGAKVNiPNEdkdfGLs/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hPc-Rt-QBHV_N_K5z5-J1U3d8mhGAKVNiPNEdkdfGLs/edit?usp=sharing) Please, submit your auditions on [**lnlvoiceauditions@gmail.com**](mailto:lnlvoiceauditions@gmail.com)
[Video](https://youtu.be/1mAPO4wvWJs) [Transcript](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/films/2020/01/06/tom-hanks-golden-globes-cecil-b-demille-speech-full-transcript/) Tom Hanks won the Cecil B DeMile award for outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment at the 2020 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday. His speech is a good one and I figured I'd share in case people missed it. It touches on the aspects of collaboration and generosity. It touches on preparation: having personal responsibility, integrity, and humility; an understanding of the whole text; and a head full of ideas. And it touches on the film actor's duty- as he puts it- to hit your mark, have faith in the process, and to "go there". Break legs in 2020, folks.
Hey! I'm a newish actor with about a year of background work (just for fun) and about 2 semesters of acting classes I'm working in Atlanta and am working towards my first speaking role. I have a few questions regarding the process of becoming an official actor as I'm still a little hazy on the whole "SAG eligibility" thing. What makes someone eligible to join the union? how does the taft Hartley process work? And since I'm non union what's the best website for open casting calls and auditions? A lot of this stuff is a little confusing to me and I apologize in advanced for any stupid questions. Thank you for reading and have a great day!!!
Hey actors and creatives! 28-year-old Aussie male here. I assume this is an age-old question. I've been tossing up whether or not LA or Vancouver is right for moving for Film & TV opportunities. From what I have researched, Vancouver is just like LA for opportunities these days with a lot of US companies heading over there to produce their projects, Can anyone suggest which city is the best to move to for an Aussie? Ideally, I could move to either but just want to know which is the best to plan for. Vancouver sounds sensational and LA sounds like a dream too, but I understand they're totally contrasting cities. Thank you!
I am a 12 year old theatre actor from Northern Ireland, since I was about 7 I have acted in small theatre productions at my local theatre. I have always been trying to get auditions for movies and such but it was only until a few days ago I actually got one, it was for The NorthMan by Robert Eggers. I want advice on how to get more auditions. That's really it. I am extremely passionate for acting and I know everyone says that but I don't care, if anyone has advice on how to get auditions, thanks. FYI my mother is looking into getting me into an agency.
Hello, I've truly wanted to act and I've written many ideas down that I plan to record throughout 2020. I wanted to ask if there was an area in which I could share these short films I will make and what areas you think are good to share clips. Also, I did get in touch with a few mentioning ActorsAccess and Backstage are good for auditions. Would anyone know any other areas you could get in touch for auditions in Los Angeles. I truly want to see if I am good enough to fit in for some role and I really want to find an audition.
I'm currently in year 9 and about to go into a vocational school with a performing arts course for the next two years, and a guaranteed place at college for performing arts. I'm a decent to good actor, and i'm getting trained in dance and music on my course. The whole goal, as it were, is to get into a good drama school at 18 and do a foundation degree. It doesn't matter where but I prefer cities. I was looking at RADA, but that's really hard to get into. I also took a look at LAMDA and Mountview, possibly RWCMD or DADA. There's just a lot of different schools and I don't know what I should do. I'm going to save a lot of money so I can afford travelling to auditions around the country. If there's any other drama schools that are good / underground and not very well known let me know :)
Hey! I was wondering what breakdown service you guys find best. Right now I’m only on Actors Access and it’s great, but want to find more opportunities. Thanks!
I went up for a role and got a call back. The CD, producers, and writer all seemed to really like me. I didn't get called in again but the CD gave me great feedback to my agents but said that they wouldn't go further with me but I'll be considered for things in the future. 2 months later they're still searching for an actor and they've changed the breakdown slightly and it's really changed my outlook on the character. Is there any harm in asking my agents to put me up for the role again?
For those of you who are newcomers to acting my names TonyJones, welcome and break a leg!! Before any legs are broken lol for those of you who are new to the game both young and old I would advise you to seek a good photographer and get headshots. When taking pics bring your personality to the camera and don't hold back, CD'S want to see the real you. Once headshots are out of the way I implore you to join r/actingclass and hookup with Winnie Hiller as I and a lot of other actors have, she's free, she mentors and more importantly SHE CARES!! Acting and entertainment are part of my DNA, it's WHO I am and WHAT I DO!! Good luck to you, break a leg and can't wait to network with you in class. Let's make 2020 happen, Be Cool Tone
I'm an amateur screenwriter, and I'm curious about how much of a character gets taken out of my hands once I send in the script. Do you try to realize the writer's intentions, or just imagine what type of person the character is and go with it? What percent of the final character is from your imagination, and what percent is from the writer's?
I was cast as a supporting role in a feature film that’s based on a very popular video game, and I understand why. I fit the type for the character, and I feel that I did well in my audition. But I don’t think I should have gotten it and I can’t exactly explain why. I just feel like someone else would have been a better fit for the role I guess? The movie hasn’t been released yet, but I keep imagining watching it and seeing all the actors who are a great fit for the characters they’re portraying, and then there’s *me* as *that* character. Has anyone else experienced something like this?

Before you do ANYTHING else. Get into tons of acting classes (scene study, on-camera acting, and improv) 2. Get PROFESSIONAL headshots. Sample Link: [https://breakdownservices.s3.amazonaws.com/media/photos/20151/476121/print/09519A5B-9E02-B0DB-F3FE03E3EDF5ABA6.jpg](https://breakdownservices.s3.amazonaws.com/media/photos/20151/476121/print/09519A5B-9E02-B0DB-F3FE03E3EDF5ABA6.jpg) 3. Create Acting profiles on these 3 legit online casting sites: Actors Access, Casting Networks, and Backstage. 4. Record a High Definition clip of a monologue or short scene using good lighting, good sound in front of a blank wall. HERE ARE 2 EXAMPLES: Scene: [https://pro.imdb.com/videoproembed/vi3502546201?ref\_=nm\_vid](https://pro.imdb.com/videoproembed/vi3502546201?ref_=nm_vid) Monologue: [https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=j\_YqBhpDm78](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=j_YqBhpDm78) 5. Upload your clip (s) to your online profiles (Actors Access, LA Casting and Backstage.) 6. Create a pro looking resume 7. Submit yourself DAILY on those 3 casting sites. 8. Book a 5-10 short films, student films, and web-series. 9. Add your bookings and acting classes to your hard copy and online resumes as you go. 10. Upload 3-4 30 second clips to your online profiles \*\*\*\*THEN present those to a Manager, or Agent! "Showcase companies" don't teach anyone to do these 10 things and this is WHAT they actors absolutely HAVE to do. They could be teaching this. It is not a secret, They choose not to. I want them to change that. This is FREE information in the pinned post in the TMFA for 60,000 people to see.
